Management accounting inside

Business Management Partners

Trinity Management embeds with owner-operators to clean up the accounting, tighten the operation, and help make your business manageable, transferable, and worth what you put into it.

Business management and consulting with management accounting services. We are not a CPA firm — we're a business management partner.

Sound familiar

You didn't build this on spreadsheets and forecasts. But that's what it takes to keep it.

Most of the owners we work with are good at the thing they do. Very good. What they don't have is a clean, current, trustworthy set of numbers behind the decisions they're making — and no real system for keeping them that way.

Our clients usually — not always — look something like this:

The books are a couple months behind. If you wanted to sell, there's not enough data to back up what you think it's worth.

You make five- and six-figure decisions off a number you don't entirely trust.

The important stuff lives in your head. Not on paper. Not anywhere someone else could find it.

Your CPA does good work at tax time. The other eleven months are on you.

You've thought about who takes this over someday. You haven't done anything about it.

If you had to sell tomorrow, there's nothing to hand a buyer but a shoebox and your word.

That last one is the expensive one. A business that isn't documented isn't transferable, and a business that isn't transferable is worth a fraction of what you built. That's the gap we close.

About

What Trinity Management is

We're a business management and consulting firm. We come in, get close to how your operation actually runs, and help implement process and consistent accounting to back it up.

In practice that means we do two things at once. We get the financial side accurate and current — coding, reconciliations, close, reporting — and we sit at the table with you on the decisions that come out of it. Whether the numbers you're looking at are telling you what you think they are.

We don't hand you a report and leave. We listen and brainstorm about what we're looking at and what the possibilities are.

What we're not

We are not a CPA firm. We don't audit, we don't issue attest reports, and we don't file your returns. That's your CPA's work, and a good one is worth keeping — we'll work alongside them, and recommend one if you need a good one.

What we handle is the management side of your numbers: the day-to-day accuracy, the monthly close, the analysis, and the judgment calls that follow. Done right, it means your CPA's job in April gets a whole lot easier, because everything's already in order.

Capacity

And we're not built for everybody

We are out to serve people that we can genuinely move the needle for. You'll get engagement and straight answers.

If we're not a fit, we'll say so early and point you somewhere better.

Who we fit

Straight talk about fit

We'd rather tell you up front than waste your time.

You're probably a good fit if
  • You're a small to medium-sized business — somewhere between $1 million and $25 million in gross revenue
  • You're owner-operated — you're in the business, not above it
  • You run entrepreneurially: several entities maybe, moving fast, plenty of decisions made on instinct
  • The business is real and it's profitable, but the back office never caught up to the growth
  • You've started thinking about the next five to ten years and don't have an answer yet
  • You want somebody who'll tell you the truth about your numbers, not agree with you
We're probably not the right call if
  • You need a tax return filed and nothing else — that's a CPA
  • You need an audit, review, or attest report — that requires a licensed CPA firm, and we're not one
  • You want data entry only — a good bookkeeper is a better value
  • You want someone to confirm a decision you've already made
What we do

Where we do the work

Embedded business management

We get inside the operation, not just the ledger.

  • Learn how the work actually gets done, department by department
  • Find where money, time, and information leak out
  • Document the processes that only exist in somebody's head
  • Build the reporting rhythm — what gets looked at, how often, by whom
  • Sit in on the decisions and stay accountable for the recommendations

Management accounting & monthly close

Numbers that are accurate, current, and safe to make a decision on.

  • Chart of accounts and transaction coding you can actually read
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations, kept current
  • Month-end close on a real schedule
  • Management financial statements written for an owner, not an accountant
  • Cleanup of whatever's been sitting there unresolved

Delivered behind the scenes by Jordan Marler.

Decision support & analysis

Run the numbers before the money moves.

  • Buy, lease, or wait — modeled out
  • What a hire, a truck, a location, or a line of business really costs
  • Pricing and margin analysis
  • Cash flow ahead of you, not behind you
  • Straight assessment of the deal you're excited about

Succession, transfer & exit readiness

Turning what you built into something you can actually hand off.

  • Honest read on whether the business is transferable as it stands today
  • Get the records, agreements, and processes in a condition someone else can pick up
  • Reduce how much the business depends on you personally
  • Prepare it to be run, handed down, or sold — your call which
  • Bring in the right attorney, CPA, valuation, or lender help when it's time

Ongoing partnership

The part most firms skip.

  • The accounting stays clean instead of going back to how it was
  • A regular working conversation about what's ahead
  • Somebody to call before you commit, not after
  • Continuity — we know your business, so you don't start over every time

Surveys consistently find that more than half of business owners have no succession plan — usually because they're “still figuring it out.” And buyers notice. When there's no trained leadership behind the owner, acquirers protect themselves with earnouts and clawbacks that come straight out of the seller's number. Sorting this out early is worth real money.

How it works

Three steps, no mystery

01

Sit down

A real conversation about your business, where it hurts, and where you'd like it to be in five years. No charge, no pitch. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help.

02

Get it stabilized

We come in, get the accounting current and correct, and start documenting how the operation actually runs. This is where most of the relief shows up.

03

Keep it that way

An ongoing engagement that keeps the numbers clean, the reporting on schedule, and a second set of eyes on every decision that matters.

Experience

Industries we've worked in

Owner-operated businesses have more in common than they think. That said, we've spent real time in:

If your industry isn't on the list, that's usually not the issue. Ask us.

Who you'll be working with

Jacob Hogg

Principal

[Bio pending — needs a short intake from Jacob. Angle: he's an operator first, not an accountant who read a book about business. Entities he's run or been inside of, the kind of owners he's helped settle things down for, and the succession work.]

Jordan Marler, management accounting at Trinity Management

Jordan Marler

Management Accounting

Jordan handles the accounting side of every engagement — coding and general ledger oversight, bank reconciliations, month-end close, and the analysis behind the recommendations we bring you. He covers financial planning, analysis, control, and decision support. Most of Jordan's work happens behind the scenes. It's the part that makes everything else possible.

FAQ

Common questions

If your question isn't here, ask it in the form below.

No. We're a business management and consulting firm with management accounting services. We don't perform audits, issue attest reports, or prepare tax returns. We work alongside your CPA and handle the management side of your numbers — the monthly accounting, the reporting, and the analysis behind your decisions.

A bookkeeper records what happened. We're accountable for whether the numbers are right, whether the process behind them holds up, and what you should do about what they're telling you.

Small and medium-sized businesses — generally $1 million to $25 million in gross revenue, owner-operated. We take on a small number of clients on purpose.

Almost never. Most of our clients keep their CPA and their internal bookkeeper. We coordinate with both and take responsibility for the management accounting and the reporting.

Yes — that's a lot of what we do. It usually starts with an honest look at whether the business is transferable in its current condition, then getting the records, processes, and dependencies to where somebody else could actually step in.

Engagements start with a scoped project and generally move to a monthly retainer. Pricing depends on the size and condition of the business. We'll quote it after we've talked.

We're based in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Most of our clients are in the surrounding region, but we work with small and medium-sized businesses wherever the fit is right.
